Maidir leis an Suíomh

Seirbhís eolais is ea Fada.ie, dóibh siúd a bhfuil suim acu síntí fada a usáid in ainmneacha fearainn sa chlárlann .IE.

About this Site

Fada.ie is an information service for those interested in the use of fadas (Irish accented vowels) in domain names in the .IE domain registry.

Maidir le Sínte Fada

Cuirtear aiceann ar ghutaí sa Ghaeilge le cur in iúil go gcuirtear síneadh fada ar fhuaimniú an ghuta sin: á, é í, ó, agus ú. Is dlúthchuid de scríobh na Gaeilge é an síneadh fada, agus is minic a bhíonn ciall an fhocail ag brath ar an síneadh fada.

What’s a Fada?

A ‘fada’ is the name given to the accent used on a vowel in the Irish language, to indicate that its pronunciation should be elongated. For example: the ‘e’ in ‘te’ (meaning ‘hot’) is pronounced like you would expect it to sound in English (as in ‘tepid’). However, the word ‘té’ (meaning ‘person’) is pronounced with an elongated e sound, like ‘tay’.

Cúlra

Tá an suíomh seo foilsithe ag Blacknight, an príomh-chomhlacht Éireannach do ainmneacha fearainn agus óstáil idirlín, chun an scéal a scaipeadh go bhfuil An Clárlann IE (IEDR) chun ainmneacha fearainn le sínte fada a cheadú, nuair a chuirfidh siad córas Ainmneacha Fearainn Idirnáisiúnaithe ar fáil ar bhonn teoranta.
